The dust was also tested (NP 85) to identify the absence of organic matter, thus confirming that it could be used in concrete mixtures. Quarry Rock Dust The quarry rock dust was obtained from a local crusher at Kariapatti, in District Virudunagar. The specific gravity of the quarry rock dust used was 2.677.
This paper presents an experimental investigation on self compacting concrete replacement of Quarry dust by (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, ) and addition of mineral admixtures like fly ash, silica fume and super plasticizers The objective of this investigation is to determine the suitable
The concept of replacement of natural fine aggregate by quarry dust which is highlighted in the study could boost the consumption of quarry dust generated from quarries. By replacement of quarry dust, the requirement of land fill area can be reduced and can also solve the problem of natural sand scarcity. The availability of sand at low cost as a fine aggregate in concrete is not suitable and ...

Granite fines or rock dust is a by-product obtained during crushing of granite rocks and is also called quarry dust. In recent days there were also been many attempts to use Fly Ash, an industrial by product as partial replacement for cement to have higher work-ability, long term strength and to make the concrete more economically availa ble.
Keywords: Fly Ash, QDFA, Quarry Dust, Superplast icizer, Self-Compacting Concrete, Water Absorption . 1.0 Introduction Highly fluid nature, easy handling and less noise are among the key advantage of self- compacting concrete. SCC significantly reduces the placement time of concrete in the large section due to easy handling technique.

Highlights Silica fume (SF) and fly ash (FA) are normally used in Self compacting concrete (SCC). Since these materials are costly, SCC was developed utilizing a cheap waste material, namely quarry dust powder (QDP). Mechanical properties of SCC with QDP were better than those of SCC with SF or FA. The use of QDP in SCC resulted in cost saving and the utilization of waste materials.
